Here’s a list of frequently asked questions to help you understand my services better and to clarify any doubts you may have about your journey towards optimal health with me.
Is there free parking at Douglasdale Professional Centre?
Yes, there’s plenty of free parking at the Douglasdale Professional Centre!
How do I sign in when I arrive for my appointment?
There will be a self-check-in station at the front desk upon arrival. Please scan the QR code to let Dr. Rebecca know that you have arrived. Then take a seat in the waiting room and Dr. Rebecca will come get you for your appointment!
Please note that although Dr. Rebecca-Jane McAllister, Chiropractor and Empathy Collaborative Health Clinic are sharing the same clinic space, we will be operating as separate businesses. This means that the administrative staff at the clinic are employed by Empathy Collaborative Health Clinic and their job tasks are primarily to support the family doctors’ practices. The administrative staff will be happy to help check you in and rebook you for your chiropractic visits during their scheduled shifts (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm), however all other inquiries, concerns, and questions pertaining to Dr. Rebecca’s practice are to be brought directly to Dr. Rebecca’s attention.
What is your direct billing policy?
We offer direct billing to most major extended healthcare insurance companies. Please note that we are only able to direct bill to the primary insurance coverage. Any secondary insurance coverage must be submitted for reimbursement by the patient.
Please note that direct billing to extended healthcare insurance companies is an additional service that is offered to enhance the patient experience. Offering direct billing is a privilege, and not a requirement, of the clinic and its associated healthcare professionals. Although every attempt will be made to collect reimbursement directly from insurance providers, the patient is ultimately responsible for the full cost of any services or products rendered, and that the credit card on file will be charged any outstanding balances.
Most extended healthcare insurance providers do not allow for clinics to direct bill no show or late cancellation fees.
A late payment fee of 2.5% will be applied on all outstanding balances beyond 30 days. Interest will also be applied at 8% per month on all outstanding balances beyond 30 days.
Receipts will be available via your online account, and these receipts can be submitted to insurance companies by the patient for direct reimbursement.
What is your no show & late cancellation policy?
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the practitioners’ day that could have been filled by another patient needing care. As such, 24 hours’ notice is required for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Less than 24 hours’ notice, or a missed appointment, will result in a late cancellation or missed appointment fee charged to the credit card on file.
To help you avoid being charged a late cancellation or missed appointment fee, please be sure your account settings (when booking the appointment) are updated with your email and/or text appointment reminder preferences.
The first late cancellation or missed appointment will be charged at 50% of the appointment cost, with all other late cancellation or missed appointments moving forward being charged at 100% of the appointment cost.
The clinic and its associated health professionals understand that extenuating circumstances arise from time to time. It is the patient’s responsibility to notify the clinic as soon as possible if they experience any extenuating circumstances. All extenuating circumstances are evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine whether a late cancellation or missed appointment fee will be charged. The patient must call the clinic if they are unable to attend their appointment, emails regarding appointment changes will not be accepted.
Do you accept MVA (motor vehicle accident) and WCB (workers’ compensation board) claims?
Yes, Dr. Rebecca currently accepts MVA & WCB claims.
If you have been injured in an automobile accident in Alberta, you are entitled to accident benefits coverage regardless of whether you were at fault for the accident. The benefits you receive depend on the type of injury you have, which is determined during your initial assessment. If you have been injured in an automobile accident, it is recommended that you contact the insurer of the vehicle you were in at the time of the accident (insurance company) and see a primary healthcare practitioner (including a chiropractor) within 10 business days of the accident. Please bring your adjustor’s contact information and MVA claim number to your initial assessment.
Chiropractors are required by law to report any workplace injury to WCB within 48 hours. If you have been injured in the workplace, it is important to report the incident to your employer and complete the required WCB paperwork. Please bring your case manager’s contact information and WCB claim number to your initial assessment.
How do I prepare for my orthotics assessment?
Prior to booking your orthotics assessment appointment, it is important to review your orthotics insurance coverage requirements. Most insurance plans will require a doctor’s prescription for orthotics dated prior to the orthotics assessment. Please bring your doctor’s prescription for orthotics to your orthotics assessment appointment.
Since orthotics are a product and not a service, the full orthotics fee is due at the end of the orthotics assessment.
When your orthotics arrive at the clinic, you will be notified to schedule your orthotics dispensing appointment. At this appointment, you will be provided with home care instructions and all paperwork required to submit for reimbursement with your insurance company.
What is your modification policy and warranty on the orthotics?
I offer a 3-month, no charge modification policy, in addition to a warranty on all manufacturer defects. Damage to misuse or carelessness is not included in the warranty.
Can I book a chiropractic appointment for my child?
Yes, children are welcome to book a chiropractic initial assessment. Please note that for any individual under the age of 18 years, a parent/guardian must be present for the appointment.
